Ndugu Chancler Shows How-to Create Timbale Patterns

In this video, Ndugu demonstrates how playing drums, timbales and congas helps create rhythm patterns for timbales. When Ndugu is playing with another drummer often times he will adapt different cowbell patterns on timbale that will go along with what the drummer is playing. Ndugu suggests that timbale backbeats line up with the backbeats of the snare drum.In this video, Ndugu is using Toca's Custom Deluxe Wood Congas and Pro Line Timbales.

Ndugu has appeared on the some of the greatest pop albums of all time, including Michael Jackson's Thriller, in many capacities: session drummer, percussionist, producer, co-producer, writer, instrumentalist and vocalist. Possibly Ndugu's greatest asset is his impeccable, seemingly metronomic timing.  A rare drummer, he grasps the whole musical picture beyond his instrument.
