Armando Montiel

Armando Montiel

Originally from Mexico City, Armando Montiel has distinguished himself as a versatile percussionist and as a key player in Mexican popular music. His style combines Jazz with Afro-American, Folkloric, Rock, Experimental and the popular music of his native country.

Montiel has collaborated with many different artists and projects throughout his career, including Son de Taraf (World Music), Héctor Infanzón quartet (Latin Jazz), Sacbe (Jazz Fusion), Gerardo Bátiz Group (Latin Jazz), Palmera (Jazz Fusion), and many others. Currently, he alternates his time between his projects La Revoltura (percussion) and the Armando Montiel Group (Jazz).

Regardless of the project Armando is working on, he approaches each one with creativity and sensitivity to his roots, while keeping it contemporary.
