Danny Diaz
A
master of the conga, belying his youthful age, Puerto Rican-born Danny
Diaz has developed an exciting style that has riveted audiences in his
native country and beyond. He attacks his multi-drum set up with a unique
flare for intricate rhythms, melody and harmony and he is obviously at
ease with a four-conga configuration. Versed in Afro-Cuban percussion
he brings a modern slant to his instrument.
A disciple of David "La Mole" Ortiz, Diaz earned the right
to be included in what is affectionately known as the master's "young
colts" (Los Potritos). A member of the Toca artist team, Danny has
appeared in festivals and clinics in Puerto Rico and the southern United
States.
Danny Diaz has already made a name for himself but greatness lies ahead.
Some say his destiny is to ascend to the highest levels of mastery of
contemporary Afro-Cuban percussion. Already he has acquired a substantial
fan base.
