As a young child, inspired by his father, Latin Jazz legend Pete Escovedo, Juan Escovedo began teaching himself how to play bongos, congas, trap drums, timbales, percussion, and a variety of other instruments. At age 14, he began performing with his father and has since recorded five albums with him.
Juan leads his own band, The Juan Escovedo Orchestra, which has toured internationally, with special extended tours in Japan.
Juan has additionally toured, performed and/or recorded with many artists including, Prince, Tony Toni Tone, Patti LaBelle, Lou Bega, MC Hammer, En Vogue, El DeBarge, Freddie Hubbard, Raphael Saadiq, Earth Wind and Fire, George Duke, Joss Stone, Israel Houghton, Barry White, Gloria Estefan, Herbie Hancock, Jody Watley, Chingy and Amerie, Teri Lynn Carrington, Bobby McFerrin, Tito Puente, Cheryl Lynn, his sister Sheila E, his father Pete Escovedo, his brother Peter Michael Escovedo, and many others.
Juan has made special appearances in several films including “Jack”, “Chasing Papi”, “Ford Fairlaine” and “Krush Groove”. He has also made a cameo appearance in Bobby Womack’s video “Save The Children.”
Juan continues to perform, tour, write and record — both as a solo artist, with The Juan Escovedo Orchestra, and with his family, The E Family: his father, Pete Escovedo, his brother, Peter Michael Escovedo, and his sister, Sheila E.
Juan’s first solo CD is set to be released in 2013.
