Oscar Roca, Professor of Percussion at the Buenos Aires Conservatoire

Oscar Albrieu Roca is an Argentinian percussionist and teacher. He earned the degrees of PROFESSOR and MUSIC PERFORMANCE from the UNIVERSITY PATAGONIA OF ARTS in Rio Negro, Argentina and has studied in USA, Brazil and Cuba. He is currently the Professor of Percussion at the Buenos Aires Conservatoire and former teacher at Instituto Universitario Patagonico de Artes , Patagonia. He is also the Director of the Buenos Aires City Youth's Orchestra program. Previously he was the Percussion Coordinator of Youth's Orchestras Project of the Buenos Aires Government, and Percussion Director of the National program which has more than 150 orchestras around Argentina. Oscar also worked more than 10 years as a percussionist in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires at the Teatro Col√≥n.

His teaching and performing career has brought him to many locations around the world, including the United States, Spain, England, France, Costa Rica, Germany, Panan√°, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Cuba and has played as soloist with the renowned orchestras in Argentina. As a writer of music he commissioned and premiered several pieces for Solo Percussion, Percussion and Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Duos for Percussion and Bandone√≥n. Expanding his musical repertoire Oscar actually plays in several chamber music ensembles such as Guillo Espel Quartet and Tambor Fantasma. In the popular music front he played with great artists like Deep Purple, Charles Dutoit, Mauricio Kagel, Helmut Lachenman, Abel Pintos, Dancing Mood, Compañia Obl√≠cua, Mimi Maura, and Grammy Award winning artists Lalo Schiffrin, Vicentico And Fernando Otero.

Oscar premiered more than 30 pieces and has participated in over 45 recordings.
