Born on October 19, 1996, in the city of Cali Colombia, Jhon is the youngest of two brothers. His father realized at an early age that John had extraordinary abilities in music, specifically percussion. In 2003 (at 7 years of age) Jhon’s father entered him into a children's musical project. This would be his first orchestra, Tumbaito, for whom he played the bongo for 4 years. Thanks to his motivation and commitment to music, his father gave him his first drums and at the age of 12 he formed a band with his friends. This was a rock group called Paranoia.

In 2008 he joined the musical group Los Zafiros de Colombia, to whom his father also belonged. With this group he had the opportunity to tour much of the country, participate in recordings and music videos, including: "Si me vas a abandonar" (Merengue version) and "El embrujo" (Tropical version) but under the name La Dimensión Orquesta.

At the beginning of 2012, John began his percussion studies at the Departmental Institute of Fine Arts in the city of Cali, where he acquired knowledge of musical grammar and learned much more about the native drums of the country and other regions.

In 2013 he became part of the musical group of Joel Mosquera, one of the most popular artists of the Salsa Choke genre, in which he performed as a conguero on his recordings, as well as touring internationally with him. Also in 2013, he joined the youth orchestra "SalsaG" of the city of Guacarí. Just a year later they won 2nd place in the world salsa festival, in the Ensemble modality.

In 2015 he joined the orchestra of Jimmy Saa (the ambassador of the Pacific), as a conguero. In this group he acquired much of his experience learning from his bandmates, and became known as an outstanding musician in the city of Cali. He played for Jimmy Saa for 5 years and toured countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Honduras, among others.

In 2018, he participated in the world salsa festival with the Orchestra of the renowned percussionist and five-time championCaliche Sabogal in the Ensemble modality, winning First Place in the competition.

He has had the opportunity to play with other national artists and former singers of Grupo Niche such as: Moncho Santana, Charlie Cardona, Hansel Camacho, Javier Vásquez, Willy García, Carlos Guerrero, and Luis Felipe Gonzalez (ex Nelson and his stars), Jose Alberto "el canario", David Pabón, Roberto Roena (QEDP), Ismael Miranda, Domingo Quiñones, Lalo Rodríguez, Tito Nieves, Maelo Ruiz, Tony Vega, Cheo Andújar, Luigi Texidor, Tito Rojas (QEDP), Mickey Taveras, Andy Montañez, Pedro Brull, Nino Segarra, Luisitor Carrión, Osvaldo Román, Omar Alfanno (composer), Alex D ́Castro, Wichi Camacho, among many others.
