Leppo, who recalls falling asleep listening to his father playing drums, picked up percussion early and stuck with it, joining school bands, the high school orchestra and a drum corps.

Leppo toured with On the Rise for five years, backing up artists such as Tom Jones and Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon.

After he turned 21, Leppo moved to Nashville, where he went to clubs in search of gigs.
